Buildbase FA Trophy: Curzon Ashton vs Worcester City preview…

After the disappointment of Saturday’s postponement, Curzon Ashton will look to once again kick off their Buildbase FA Trophy campaign on Monday night when they welcome opponents Worcester City to Tameside.

The Nash will enter the game on the back of an impressive 4-2 win over FC Halifax Town nine days go, despite finishing the game with only eight men after Jamie Stott, Alex Brown and Niall Cummins all saw red.

As a result, they will all be suspended for today’s game.

Curzon will be looking to maintain their recent good form, which has seen them clock up three wins from three games in all competitions – the most notable of which, a 3-1 FA Cup first round replay victory over Westfields that saw the Nash secure their place in the second round for only the second time in the club’s history.

They will also be hoping to break FA Trophy records again this season, just as they did last. The Nash reached the second round of the competition for the first time in the club’s history last season, when they were narrowly beaten by Sutton United.

Meanwhile, Worcester head into the game on the back of a 3-0 defeat away to Salford City last time out, picking up only 6 points in their last four league games.

The man to watch for the visitors could be veteran striker Lee Hughes. Hughes has played for a number of Football League clubs during his career including Oldham Athletic, West Bromwich Albion, Coventry City and Port Vale and has found the net 13 times, for current club Worcester, in the league this season.
